The Baglama is fundamental to Turkish folk music
and literally translated, its name means 'something that is tied
up'. Generally made from mulberry wood and played with a pick, this
7-stringed-instrument has three sections of string, divided into
groups of 2, 2 and 3 strings, which can all be tuned to different
combinations.
The Baglama is believed to be a combination of instruments used in
antiquity with roots in Central Asia and pre-Turkish Anatolia.
