Let’s begin with talking about the Haci Bayram Mosque. This mosque
lies in Ulus near the Augustus temple. It was built in the 15th
century in the Seljuk style. In the 16th century, changes were made
in the mosque and Sinan style also became a part of the mosque.
Later in the 18th century, the Kutahya tiles where added in the
mosque to further improve its architect. This mosque was
manufactured in the memory of Haci Bayram Veli. His tomb lies next
to this mosque.
Another great mosque that is situated near Citadel is the Aslanhane
mosque. It was constructed in the 13th century. A great thing about
this mosque is that it has mirhap made from the Seljuk tiles. The
tomb of the Ahi Serafeddin lies next to the mosque.
One more mosque located near Citadel is the Ahi Elvan Mosque. It is
situated in the Ulus quarter. The construction of this mosque began
in the 14 the century whereas it was completed in the beginning of

just to view the mimber made here that is carved from walnut. The
walls of citadel have another mosque called the Alaaddin mosque
which also has a walnut carved mimber. The mosque was constructed by
Mesut in the 12th century. These are not the only things that are

One of the largest mosques of the Ottoman Empire made in Ankara is
the Yeni Mosque also known as the Cenab Ahmet mosque. It was built
in the 16th century by Sinan who was a well-known architect of that
time. The mihrap and the mimber are some of the finest workmanship
of this mosque. The mosque itself is made of the Ankara stone.
A freshly constructed mosque of the region is the Kocatepe Mosque.
It is built with 4 minarets and it was made in the Ottoman style.
Seyit Battal Gazi Mosque is also one of the historical mosques built
in the 13th century in the honor of Seyyit Battal who was known as
