For those excited by science and a chance to get your hands in the
middle of a science experiment The Istanbul Science Center is the
place to see and be a part of. Visitors of all ages have hands-on
and theoretical opportunities to participate in. It is part of the
Istanbul Technical University and was founded by the Science Center
Foundation. The university has pledged itself to the engineering
sciences. There are only two technical universities that are older.
Cemal Resit Rey Hall is attuned to the classical taste in music
presenting ballets, operas, and operettas. If your musical taste
tends to the modern sounds you can hear rock, jazz, and folk music
and see modern dance. The hall bears the name of a famous twentieth
century pianist, conductor, composer, and script writer from who was
born in Istanbul.
Tekirdag situated in the Thrace or European part of Marmara and on
its seacoast has much to offer the vacationer. This ancient city has
been around since almost the dawn of time. Its modern name is taken
from the color of the encompassing mountain range of slate called
Isiklar Dagi. Tekirdag was the starting point from whence the
Phrygians launched their campaign to conquer Asia Minor by sea. The
Thracians occupied it for a long period and then the Romans and it
was also part of the Byzantine era.
Some of the historical sites to visit in Tekirdag are: Rakoczy
Museum, Tekirdag Museum, and the Rustem Pasha Mosque. The patriotic
poet Namik Kemal is from Tekirdag and his statue is another site
worth seeing.
Other attractions in Istanbul of interest are the CNR Expo Center,
Kemer Golf and country Club,

Istikla Street was once romantically called Grande Rue de Para and
is known as for romance and friendship. It is picturesque with
cobblestone streets and atmospheric cafes. French and Russian
restaurants are snuggly tucked away in Pera and they kindle the
environ of its European past. The more modern attractions in Pera
are movie theaters and music stores. St Anthony Catholic church sits
on the Grande Rue de Para it is like a smaller Notre Dome de Paris;
it was constructed in 1906 and still has an active congregation, but
different events and concerts are also held there.
